It's fundamental
It's not often that I agree with my brother-in-law
...he's a man who always lives by the rules and I... well I'm a rule breaker, an iconoclast, a pricker of bubbles
Yet yesterday we agreed that the problem wasn't with Christian Fundamentalists, or Islamic Fundamentalists: it's just with 'fundamentalists' and Prof Dawkins has proved once and for all that there is such an animal as a 'Atheist Fundamentalist' - or more accurately a 'Darwin Fundamentalist'.
A fundamentalist, it seems to me, is a person who thinks that 'one size fits all' and one solution solves all problems. It's rather like the Nazis in the thirteees who said 'our policy is Hitler, and Hitler is our policy'.
It is also exclusive almost going as far as suggesting that 'God is made in my image' and my interpretation of his word is by definition his.
The arogance of anyone who says 'this is my truth and mine is the only truth' is bewildering. To live without doubts is hardly to live at all. If there is a creator - and though the jury is out I think the evidence for him is tenuous in the extreem - then he gave us intellects to think with.
Are we to throw His gift back into his face?
