Millie's Tale

Today I'm sending off my baby.

As other groups know, it's not too easy to find a job once you pass your 50th birthday. Ten years and more back I found myseld unemployed and to all sense and purposes uneemployable.

Then, out of the blue and through the most tenuous of network links, I got myself a job in Holland. In fact i had worked for dutch companies, off and on, for most of my working life, but rarely in Holland itself.

Well it's clear enough to a bread winner that the only place to win bread is a place that has bread to win: so I went. However, when I got the family over to survey the place it was dank wet and flat - often the case in the Netherlands - and they didn't like it one bit.

So needing a hobby I wrote a book called 'Millie's Tale' and finished it just before I returned to the UK. Writing - I find - goes best when you're unhappy and I was happy once I was back in a UK job, so I filed it away, at first on a floppy disk and later on a data stick and dug it out to revise every time I had a bad hair day. As I'm bald every day is a bad hair day.

I sent it off to dozens of Agents but.........

Anyway, cutting to the chase, I showed a bit of it to my sister-in-law who has an agent, and at her behest I'm sending it off again.

So its a sucking up letter and another brown envelope in the post

Here's hoping!
