The Retired but Active Chat Room

Chat Rooms put you in touch with the world

Chat Rooms are for teenagers
True: many Chat Rooms are designed for teenagers and others are dominated by them
Retired but Active Chat Rooms are for members only, and we don't have teenage members.
I understand people use strange names in Chat Rooms
That's true, people use nick-names to conceal their real identity. There's nothing sinister in that, they simply want to preserve their privacy.
You do need to remember, though, that people use the facility to adopt different personas so a retired bank clerk from Omaha might use the name 'Blackbeard' to appear more dynamic than he really is.
The trick is to use the Chat Room as a source of light relief and no more. The forums and the blogs are better mediums for more serious stuff.
Some guidelines
  • Never give any personal of financial information over a Chat Room link.
  • Use it only for banter and light chat.
  • Never use capital letters other than for names and the beginning of sentences: it's considered to be the equivalent of shouting.
  • Enjoy it - don't take it too seriously: that's what it's for.
